Beginning in the upcoming 2022-23 school year, the State of California will require all public schools to make breakfast and lunch available to all students free of charge on each school day.

How will school meals change next year?

This new California requirement will change LASD’s school lunch, which will be very different than in previous school years.  Additionally, breakfast will be a new service LASD provides for all students free of charge.

  • Students may choose a meal from each day’s two meal choices without prior sign up.
  • Gardner Bullis will provide a monthly menu of the meals offered each day.
  • Students may still bring lunch, breakfast or snacks to school from home.  However, no other vendor meals will be allowed to be delivered to school sites.
  • A sample menu will be provided for you in August.

Although the California Universal Meals Program is new to LASD, it is already working well in our neighboring school district, Mountain View-Whisman, as well as others in Santa Clara County. More information about school meals will be provided by our school principal, Mrs. Schermerhorn, at the beginning of the school year.
