This is my ninth year teaching 6th grade in LASD and I am thrilled to be working with our 2024-25 Grizzlies! Sixth grade is an important time for our students. It is both the culmination of years of work and joy in their elementary classes and a special time to prepare for Junior High.
I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by gifted educators and I’m passionate about helping children build a foundation for lifelong learning. While I’d always thought about teaching, I was also fascinated by emerging technologies and took a detour with a first career in strategic ventures.
Realizing it's never too late to follow your heart, I received my Master's degree in Teaching from Santa Clara University in 2016. I’ve since trained with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, SVMI (Silicon Valley Math Initiative), the YouCubed maths program, and with Responsive Classroom in support of social and emotional learning. Previously, I taught 6th grade maths and ELA at Santa Rita Elementary.
I grew up in San Mateo and now live in Belmont with my husband, my daughters Sophia and Genevieve, and our dog, Happy.
