Title:
1st Grade Teacher
Diane Wharton

It’s hard to believe that I’ve taught first grade for a quarter of a century! It’s true what they say... Time flies when you’re having fun! First grade is full of wonder and growth. It is constantly changing with an opportunity for incredible academic growth. I am a learner right alongside my students as we go through the school year together. I strive to create an inclusive classroom community that challenges students and build relationships with the students and their families. My goal is that school will be a place where students want to be and they can do important work. I am a product of the Los Altos school district as well. I attended Hillview, Covington, and Blach Jr. High. After Los Altos High, I got my degree at University of the Pacific in Stockton. Returning to Los Altos, I started subbing in the district until I was hired full time. My husband, Mike, and my son, Ryan (6th grader) and I now live in Santa Clara. Our two little puppers, Olive, the pug, and Cooper, the frenchie, keep us on our toes and provide me with stories to tell in the classroom. I spend my free time trying to exercise daily, reading, and watching baseball. I’m looking forward to baking up a storm in my new kitchen.
