Title:
2nd Grade Teacher
Amy Lutz

My passion for education and travel began in 1987, when my parents took my family to live in Portugal. There, I attended an American International School. With guidance from my family, teachers, and new friends, I began my lifelong journey in becoming a responsible global citizen. This experience inspired me to pursue international teaching in New Zealand, Thailand, and virtually for an American International school in Myanmar. Prior to teaching in Thailand, I served as a behavior therapist, and special education teacher in LASD for 11 years. I taught special day class kindergarten at Covington, and special day class grades 1-3 at Loyola. After my return from Thailand, I taught 2nd grade at Almond. This will be my fourth year teaching 2nd grade at Gardner Bullis.

I have a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, a multiple subject teaching credential, and a special education specialist credential. I am proud and honored to be part of the LASD professional community. I spend my free time traveling, yoga, pilates, hiking, attending music festivals, and finding quiet time in nature. I am committed to helping students build self-confidence to find their place in the world, and in their own community, while celebrating cultural diversity.
