Parking Lot Closure:  Begins Wednesday, October 25th

Families, please make sure you put your colored placard with your child's name/teacher's name on your dashboard. If someone other than you is picking up your child, please be sure to give them your placard. This will expedite pick-up.

It is highly encouraged that you WoW to school as often as you can.  There will be several parking spaces in the parking lot but those have all been assigned to: traveling staff members that come in mid morning such as nurses, coaches, OTs, and music teachers; handicap parking; auction winners; and Art Docent/Living Classroom instructors who have large volumes of supplies to carry in.  Those particular cars will have a RESERVED placard in their car giving them authorization to park in RESERVED parking.  All other cars will be asked to find parking at city hall or within the neighborhood.

Remember, the Gardner Community is Kind, Safe, Respectful, and does their best!

Rainy Day Pick-Up

Hello Gardner Community,

It looks like it is time to start thinking about rainy day pick-up.  The staff and I strategized today about the best way to handle pick up in significant rain and here is our plan with the * understanding * that we will change as needed:

  1. Cars will enter the parking lot EXTRA S-l-o-w. Please be aware of your speed coming off of Fremont.  I have noticed several cars a day entering the parking lot too fast.
  2. Kinders -2nd will wait in the multi with teacher supervision until each parent car has arrived...3rd-6th will wait at the lunch tables.
  3. Runners (staff and parent volunteers) will radio or use the bull horns to tell the waiting area when a student's car has arrived and then that student will be released.
  4. I will be at the entrance to start the process of letting everyone know whose car is coming so it is important that you put your colored placard on your dashboard.

Please have your students wear rain coats with a hood on rainy days.

Parking Lot Duty

The parking lot closure starts Wednesday, and we need your help!  The parking lot will be closed until Wednesday, December 27th.  School will be in session for 7 of those weeks.

To ensure the safety of students getting in and out of cars during this time, each grade is assigned just one week of parking lot duty both before and after school, according to the schedule below.

Parent volunteers are asked to put on orange vests found on the sidewalk along the drop-off/pick-up lane, and to assist children in safely getting in and out of the cars.  The time commitment is small: 8:10-8:30AM, 2:40-3:20PM or 1:25-2:05 on early release Thursdays.
