What's the purpose of our school libraries?

School libraries have great books, just like public libraries, but school libraries also teach information literacy skills and library skills that are part of the curriculum in California.

What types of resources are available from LASD libraries?

Our libraries provide multiple resources for students in grades Preschool through 8 with the goal of providing every student with options for becoming strong information users and lifelong readers. We offer print books and magazines, both fiction and nonfiction, for reading for pleasure and to support schoolwork and personal information interests. We also offer high quality electronic information resources for student research and reading development that are available both at school and home. Our goal is to offer choices to students in order to meet each student's research and reading needs.

Why can't I connect to the online library catalog from home?
The online library catalog is only available on campus because it is protected by a district firewall.  The online catalog includes information about all of the print materials available in each school library.

Mrs. De Rego                  About Mrs. De Rego

Mrs. De Rego loves being the school librarian!  She has spent the last 7 years heading up the Gardner Bullis School Library and couldn’t imagine a more rewarding job than helping to develop the love of reading and researching in our students.  She is an avid reader and often has two books going simultaneously:  one on her reader for a late night pleasure read, and an audiobook for her commute.  Mrs. De Rego can’t wait to talk books with students this year.
