Bonsoir Mesdames et Messieurs,
Last night’s Auction Dinner/Fundraiser was unbelievably exciting and beautiful. The staff and I had a fantastic time with all of you, and we were so happy to be together –in Paris- for such an elegant evening focused on Gardner's students and our three-year technology plan. We all felt very appreciated last night and please know how much we appreciate all of you!
A very special thank you goes to the auction committee who worked tirelessly to put this Night in Paris together: Chair Susan L and her team = Amanda B; Aileen B; Gloria C; Derick D; Christine L; Kelly L; Audrey L; Michele Mixter; Emily P; Monique R; Anne S; Laura S; Uyen N; Jody V; and Elaine W.
CAASPP
Next week, our window for the California Assessment and Student Performance Program will begin. GB 3rd-6th graders will take this state assessment in between April 23rd - May 11th. Each student will be assessed in English Language Arts and Math, and 5th graders only will receive the new science test. Testing sessions will run approximately 40-60 minutes, and students will have multiple testing sessions throughout the weeks. Your child’s teacher will send out a schedule that is specifically for that classroom. Please try your best to have students here and on time during testing weeks and if possible, avoid pulling students from school for doctor or dentist appointments on test days. Students will be allowed to make up any missed tests but will need to be pulled out of class to do so.
Other ideas to ensure the best outcome for your students include: 1) getting a good night’s sleep, 2) eating a healthy breakfast that is not high in sugar, and 3) talking to your student about relaxing and just trying their best. While we value the work and learning teachers and students have put towards an assessment such as this, it is only one of many data points we use to monitor student growth and guide classroom instruction. If you have any more questions, the best person to ask is your child’s teacher, and she will be happy to talk to you.
No Friday Assemblies!
Please note that on April 27th, May 18th, and May 25th we will not have our regular Friday Assembly so that we may have our Field Day Team Building Days instead. Kinders-6th graders, equally divided into 8 Color teams, will use these three Friday mornings to bond and build team spirit.
Merci Beaucoup, Nadia Oskolkoff, Principal
