Hello GB Community!

I am very excited about tomorrow's ROCK-a-THON! I look forward to seeing you all there getting your laps on! Thank you to Mr. Fitzgibbon and crew for their attention to detail in organizing this event. The show starts at 9:00 am!

CLEAN UP CREW!

Last Sunday, multiple families came out in force to pick up the garbage around campus and pull weeds in order to get our school ready for the walk-a-thon. I appreciate all of you so very much! It was several hours of working together and giving back to our school and it filled the GB bucket up to the rim. Grizzly Greatness all the way around!

HOT LUNCH VOLUNTEERS

This morning during assembly, I asked for any students who have ever received a hot lunch to raise their hands. I would say 99% of our students raised their hands. Those students would not be able to get those hot lunches if it was not for our incredible hot lunch volunteer team. They come every day at 11:30 to faithfully ensure our students can eat. We are very grateful for them and I would like to recognize them. If you see any of the following volunteers-please give them a high-five and a thank you: ANNIE S., BETH S., CAMILLA G., CHRISTINE L., DERICK D., ELAINE W., LESLEY W., MARGARET P., MARGIE S., MEIHUA G., MONA A., SHAUNTAI D., SHERRY Y., SIRI E., SOHEILA J., SUSAN L., TARYN M., & TINA H.

HALLOWEEN PARADE

This year, Halloween is on an early release Thursday so we will hold our parade right after lunch at 12:50. After the parade, students will be allowed to go home. If that is before dismissal time (K: 1:15; 1st-2nd: 1:25; 3rd-6th: 1:45) we ask that you sign your student out with his or her teacher first. All parents and family members are invited to join us for this annual tradition of showing off our costumes!

Speaking of costumes, students SHOULD NOT come to school in costume but instead, bring their costume in a bag. They will have an opportunity to get dressed at lunch.

Please, no gore, violent or costumes with weapons.

PARENT AND TEACHER LEARNING

Coming to our school on December 4th is Ronen Habib, founder of EQ Schools. Thanks to the support of PTA, the teachers and I have been able to partner with EQ Schools over the past couple of years and have learned about social-emotional health and emotional intelligence in the classrooms. As many of you may know, this has also been the work of my dissertation. I am very excited to welcome "Roni" to not only our school but also Covington Elementary. He will work with our teachers in the afternoon and in the evening, hold a parent workshop. More on this will come but please mark your calendars now for the evening of December 4th to join Covington's community and learn more about this very important topic from the parents' perspective. To get you excited, please watch his TEDx here.

Happy Friday,
Nadia
