Happy Post-Halloween!

Thank you to all of the families who joined us yesterday and helped make our day spook-tack-u-lar! All of the children's costumes looked amazing and no doubt they all had fun last night. However, we are all here today and in full swing of learning!

November 1st

Today is National Author’s Day. This morning we challenged the students to think about their favorite books and authors. My childhood favorite book of all time is Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. Oh-my-goodness- I must have read that book four or five times and cried each time I did. If you have not had the pleasure of experiencing this classic, I highly encourage you to curly up with your children and a box of tissues and enjoy.

YUMMY YOGA!

Speaking of authors, on November 14th, Joy Bauer will join us and talk to the entire school about healthy eating and yoga as well as being an author. She is a nutritionist who can be viewed on the Today Show and has a children's book titled Yummy Yoga. She is going to share with the students nutritional eating tips and show us yoga poses! Please see here for more information about Ms. Bauer and her book.

BookQuest

And, speaking of books…today is the last day to order your child’s BookQuest kit. Students from K-6 can become a published writer with this easy-to-use kit! All students are encouraged to come up with their own book idea and have it printed and bound into a keepsake that they will treasure forever. The students will then get to celebrate their writing accomplishments by displaying their work at the BookQuest celebration on April 2, 2019, which is International Children's Book Day. Please visit our website to order your kit today.

Coffee with the Principal

Please join me next Friday, November 8th after the assembly to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have and to have a look at our most recent school data.

Save the Date: 12/4 Covington Library 6 pm-8 pm Mindful Parenting

Please join us for a presentation by Roni Habib, founder of EQ Schools, on Mindful parenting. In our fast-paced, hectic world, slowing down and being present in our parenting of children is even more critical. Roni delivers powerful messages with an entertaining style. This event is free to attend and is co-sponsored by Covington and Gardner Bullis’s PTAs.

We wish the 6th graders an adventurous week away at Walden West next week! We will miss you but we look forward to seeing how much you grow from your experiences of being in the woods and how you bond with your fellow outdoor-heroes. In advance, a huge thank you to Ms. Jordan and Mr. Schroeder!

Happy Friday,

Nadia
