November 15th

Welcome back to our 4th graders and the awesome duo Mrs. Axley and Mrs. Leinenbach from their overnight stay at Coloma! The students enjoyed hands-on learning about California history and for many spent their first night away from home. We are so excited for them all to return and cannot wait to hear about their two days in “gold country!” Thank you to the parent chaperones for joining the crew for without you the trip would not be possible!

November

Parents and students, did you know that November is Hunger Awareness Month? The final days to bring your canned food and dried goods for our Second Harvest Food Drive are here. Please drop your donations in the bins distributed across the campus. Also, gently used or new coats are being collected for children in need. Please, include your child in the process of selecting the food or clothing you will donate and talk about our character trait of the month: Building Community, which means to make our school, neighborhood, and the world a better place!

November is also National Diabetes Awareness Month and we have been learning about this as a whole school thanks to Mrs. Loebner and one of our students who have been willing to share their stories. Wear blue on Fridays to show your support!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Many of you will be meeting with your child’s teacher for parent/teacher conferences in the next couple of weeks. Please read this brief article on “Tips for Parents on Parent-Teacher Conferences as you prepare for that important conversation.

Save the Date: 12/4 Covington Library 6 pm-8 pm Mindful Parenting

Please join us for a presentation by Roni Habib, founder of EQ Schools, on Mindful parenting. In our fast-paced, hectic world, slowing down and being present in our parenting of children is even more critical. Roni delivers powerful messages with an entertaining style. This event is free to attend and is co-sponsored by Covington and Gardner Bullis’s PTAs.
