Hello Gardner families,

Last Thursday during our Third Thursday event, we enjoyed the beautiful celebration of Diwali.  A special thank you to Mona A., Divya V., Seema M. and Meera M. who put so much thought into the decorations, food, activities, and teachings for all of us to experience.  We even enjoyed culturally relevant music from DJ Wheat Thin –our very own 6th grader, Zander.

The Great Shake Out

On Wednesday of last week, our school participated in the Great Shake Out, which is a countywide drill to help prepare us in the event of a big earthquake.  I was very proud of the students who all took the drill seriously and patiently waited while the staff went through search & rescue and first-aid simulations.  Thank you to all of the parents who joined us in the drill and role-played “trapped” or “missing” or tried to come onto campus during the event.  Thank goodness our search & rescue teams found you!

Parking Lot Closure:  Begins Wednesday, October 25th

Families, please make sure you put your colored placard with your child's name/teacher's name on your dashboard. If someone other than you is picking up your child, please be sure to give them your placard. This will expedite pick-up.

It is highly encouraged that you WoW to school as often as you can.  There will be several parking spaces in the parking lot but those have all been assigned to: traveling staff members that come in mid morning such as nurses, coaches, OTs, and music teachers; handicap parking; auction winners; and Art Docent/Living Classroom instructors who have large volumes of supplies to carry in.  Those particular cars will have a RESERVED placard in their car giving them authorization to park in RESERVED parking.  All other cars will be asked to find parking at city hall or within the neighborhood.

Remember, the Gardner Community is Kind, Safe, Respectful, and does their best!
