December 12th,
Good evening,
We’ve had an exciting week so far. Our Winter Music Concert on Monday was a delight! Thank you to our music teachers: Mr. Braun, Mr. Chan, Ms. Dahl, Ms. Dunn, and Ms. Slotnick for your passion and dedication to music. Especially, thank you to LAEF and the parent supporters of LASD’s education foundation. Without LAEF’s support, our music program would not exist.
Book Fair!
We also kicked off our Book Fair this week. Parent volunteers Tanya L., Ali G., Jillian D., and Laura S.-along with Mrs. DeRego- have ensured that students experience the true magic of a book fair. Mrs. Loebner was a star guest reader at the Cocoa and Pajama night and as a community, we purchased and donated our goal of 150+ books for Project Night-Night!
Project Night-Night
Speaking of Project Night-Night, students spent their lunch recess today to wrap 150 blankets, books, and stuffed animals together for local children in need. My own mom- “Nana”- supported the cause by crocheting 40 blankets for the children and worked side-by-side with our students. Building Community is clearly what Gardner Grizzlies are all about! Thank you to Ali G, Mrs. Leinenbach, Mr. Schriener, Mrs. Lai, and student leaders who supported this Gardner Gives Back project.
Mural
With the funds raised and donated by the 6th-grade students of Classes 2018 and 2019, and in partnership with the PTA, we were able to commission two muralists for our dream mural! 6th graders had a voice in the direction of the design and with the creative eye of the artist, we have a BEAUTIFUL mural being painted by the outdoor stage! Students are experiencing and learning from the project because the muralists are painting during school hours. Tomorrow morning during Friday’s assembly, they will speak to the students about the mural process. Please join us to hear about the experience.
I wish you a warm and festive weekend,
Nadia
