Hello Gardner families,

Thank you everyone who helped donate to Almond School’s help-a-thon on Saturday.  Efforts paid off and they were able to bring a U-haul full of needed supplies as well as a sizable amount of cash to the families in the devastated fire areas.  Principal Erika Benadom and the Almond community send their sincere gratitude to all who stopped by. Some of our families arrived at Almond School after they had finished the drive but if you could hold on to those items there is already buzz about Gardner doing another drive ASAP.  Information on what, where, and when will be sent out for your convenience.

Air Quality

Last week students were kept inside, doors were kept shut, and the air circulation in the classrooms was adjusted so not to pull from outside.  The safety of children and staff is my number one concern and while my hope is that we will be outside next week, it really will be a day-by-day decision.  Thanks to all the students for hanging in there while we stayed inside and our outstanding staff for making the transition bearable. Even though our daily schedule as been slightly impacted, our thoughts are still focused on those families up north and all that they have lost.

A shout out to Amanda B and her SELFY Team for also adjusting last week and finding areas of play and things to do during lunch inside!  J

Walk-a-thon Rescheduled

As soon as we receive an updated date, your Walk-a-thon team will let you know the new date and time.  I look forward to seeing you all there in just a few short weeks!

Emergency Preparedness

On Friday the 13th, Marsha Hovey from the town of Los Altos Hills joined us during the Coffee with the Principal and gave us all excellent information on how to prepare our families for emergencies. These emergencies can happen at any given moment: fires, earthquakes, floods, or crime-related events.   Your best resource is to visit www.losaltoshill.ca.gov and click on the “In Case of Emergency” link and look for “Safety Library.”  There you will find good information on how to be prepared.

Here are a few other links as well:

Parking Lot Closure

As we get closer to our Solar Panel kick-off please make note of the weeks you will have a once-in-a-life time opportunity to help in the parking lot and bond with your fellow community members.  Below is a grade-level schedule and explanation of how you can help.  I am looking forward to working with you either in the mornings or afternoons.
