STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. Exposing our students to different aspects of careers in the STEM fields could inspire and spark a passion in learning. Feb. 18 WHO: The Los Altos Library WHAT: The Los Altos Library will host a special celebration in honor of the library’s new extended hours of operation: New hours as of Tuesday, January 3, 2017: · Monday – Thursday: 10 am – 9 pm · Friday – Sunday 10 am – 7 pm WHY: In October 2016, the North County Library Authority voted unanimously to fund an additional five hours each week in the library’s schedule. The new hours are reflective of the suggestions and wishes of over 500 Los Altos Library users who completed a SCCLD survey last spring. Their responses provided valuable input into various library offerings, including additional hours of operation should funds become available.

The following guidelines are indications that you should keep him/her home. In this way, you are helping to control the spread of colds, flu, and other contagious illnesses. Keep your child at home when he/she has any of the following symptoms:
You need to keep your child home until he/she has been symptom free without medication for 24 hours. Also, NOTIFY THE OFFICE IMMEDIATELY if your child is exposed to or contracts chicken pox, mumps or measles or whooping cough (pertussis). BookQuest Celebration on Thursday - March 2nd, 2017 at 6-8 PM (in Gardner Bullis Multi) Please come celebrate what our BookQuest authors have accomplished! Published books will be on display (authors can take books home after the event) and Gennifer Choldenko (author of the Al Capone series, Chasing Secrets, A Giant Crush, and more) will be our guest speaker. As needed, the Webmaster works with each PTA committee to provide online support for their events. The Webmaster job can be shared among two or more volunteers with specific responsibilities. Strictly Strings Concert 6th Grade Orchestra Students from Almond, Covington, Gardner Bullis and Santa Rita will be featured in a performance with Egan and Los Altos High School Orchestras.
