2017 Annual Parent Survey Results Are Online! This year, 1,472 parents took our annual survey, providing valuable input on LAEF’s programs and LASD student needs. Tick-tock…two weeks and $59,325 to go! In these final weeks of the 2016-17 school year, we are counting on 40 more LASD families to donate, fulfill their pledges, or submit a corporate match. We are so close to meeting LAEF's $3.7M fundraising goal, but we still have $59,325 to go. Every dollar makes a big difference! Medication Pickup Medications will be available for pick up from June 8th 2017 (last day of school) until June 14th 2017. We cannot store medications over the summer. If you are leaving before school ends, please pick up medications early. An adult must pick up the medication. Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for all that you do! HEALTH SERVICES STAFF Science Olympiad Volunteers Needed How can you help? We are in need of parent volunteers to help facilitate the events! Volunteers are needed on May 25th from 8:00am – 12:00pm. Each volunteer will sign up for one specific event and stay there the whole morning. There will be a catered lunch for all volunteers from 12:00 – 12:45.

In order to reduce and protect our students and staff; we are asking that you keep your children home 48 HOURS after symptoms. IF your student does not feel well in the morning; please keep them home. We will not be accepting late students that have called in sick in the morning. Please help us to cut down on the spread of this nasty virus! Thank you, Gardner Staff Pertussis Booster for Students in grade 6 Students currently in 6th grade must have proof of a Tdap or Dtap (Pertussis or Whooping Cough) booster given after their 7th birthday (after 10th birthday is recommended) in order to begin 7th grade in August of 2017. Please provide a copy of your child’s immunization record to your school office as soon as possible! Please refer any questions regarding this requirement to our District Health Assistants: Suzy Gough 302-1448 and Sandy Anderson 302-1449. Thank you for your cooperation! We currently have several positions open, right here in Los Altos. These are paid, part-time and seasonal positions. To qualify you must be 18 years old or older. No experience is necessary. Coding & Music…a perfect combination We hope you enjoyed the classical, folk songs, popular music, and film favorites coming from our 4th, 5th and 6th grade LASD Spring Music Concerts in addition to being wowed by the projects created by our 6th grade CSTEM students from all seven elementary schools at the CSTEM Expo. Special thanks to our 2,205 donors so far this school year who have made these enriching educational experiences possible! Don’t’ miss the CSTEM Showcase – May 23rd LAEF is proud to sponsor the Los Altos School District CSTEM Showcase on Tuesday, May 23rd from 3:30 to 5:00 pm in the Blach School Multi. Bring your family to play games and explore projects created from all seven elementary schools. As a result of their exposure to computer science, 6th-grade students are ready to integrate coding in other academic areas and to take the new CS Elective in Jr. High, as a key component to expanding the CSTEM program to TK-8. LACI (formerly known as Passerelle) will provide a brief description of the First Street Green and will listen to feedback from us on what we think. LACI is proposing a park/plaza that will include an outdoor stage, children's play area, seating areas, a cafe and other amenities. This plaza could be used for our Farmer's Market, staging area for our beloved parades, performance area for our kids, outdoor movies, and other community events. As well they have proposed (through a very transparent process), a state-of-the-art, sustainable office building targeting professionals (law, finance, VC etc) If you have a school-wide announcement that you would like to be included in Bear Tracks, please send it to the Bear Tracks editors.
