Volunteer as a Los Altos Art Docent! We are looking for new volunteers to join us! Come learn more about the Los Altos Art Docent Program at an Informational Coffee on Wednesday, August 23rd from 10:00 to 11:30am at the LASD Board Room 201 located at 201 Covington Road, Los Altos. See this link for more details. If you are unable to come to the coffee, please contact the Art Docent office at (650) 947-1195 or kdickerson@lasdschools.org The Los Altos Art Docents are a dedicated group of trained volunteers who teach art lessons to the elementary schools in the district. Art education is about more than showing students how to draw a tree or recognize a Van Gogh. It’s about preparing young minds for an entire future of invaluable experiences. Our volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds but share a love of art and working with children. In return for a couple of hours of your time each week, docents benefit from an ongoing education program, field trips, social activities and an incredible sense of community. |

Solar Project Coming Soon The district is installing solar shade structures at each of its schools. The structures will be installed in school parking lots. Installing the solar structures will enable us to save hundreds of thousands of dollars each year and reduce our carbon footprint, equivalent to 3.5 million pounds of CO2 annually. Construction will begin September 18th and continue for 8 - 10 weeks. Construction fencing is scheduled for installation on September 18 and all work and materials will be contained within the fenced area. Construction work will adhere to the noise and safety requirements of all local enforcement codes. Traffic and parking will be impacted on and around the school sites and the District during construction. We are working with police and traffic control departments to mitigate the impacts on the school neighborhoods. Where possible, we have made alternate parking arrangements. The District is paying for this project out of its operating budget. No bond monies are being used. Please check back on our website for updated communications and information. |

LOCAL CONTROL AND ACCOUNTABILITY PLAN Under California's new local control funding scheme, all school districts are required to complete a Local Control & Accountability Plan (LCAP) that represents their spending plans on services for students including identified sub groups of students. Each district must engage and involve its constituents (stakeholders) in the development of its LCAP and make a copy of the plan available to the public for review and comment. The LCAP must be adopted by the district's Board of Trustees following a public hearing at the same meeting it adopts its 2017-2018 budget.
Click here for a draft of LASD's LCAP, which is scheduled for adoption on June 12, 2017. If you wish to comment on the LCAP, please send your comments to Superintendent Jeff Baier at superintendent@lasdschools.org |
